Creating real Solutions.
Investing in changing the status quo is not something people do lightly. At the Associates for Innovative Change, you are the expert in your own life, but even experts need guidance and consultation at times. Change is difficult, especially when your life is out of balance and not working well for you. We offer guidance, direction and work with you to create innovative changes to your challenges.
Changing Course.Committing to creating something different in your life can be overwhelming, and change is hard. It is difficult to commit to, and remain committed to, change. Therapy process involves helping you stay focused on what you are trying to accomplish and to face the challenges involved in that process. Creating balance in all areas of our lives is important.
The Process of Creating Something New.Our clinicians help you recognize what needs to be addressed, the meaning of change to you, recognizing your values and what is important to you. Developing alternatives and options, creating opportunities to try something new, is an important goal. Creating healthier lifestyle choices and practices is an important part of this process.
Expertise, Experience & Skill. Our clinicians have a range of experience, backgrounds and competency. Some have more than 25 years of experience, while others are relatively newer. Each clinician in the practice actively participates in supervision and consultation to continually develop professionally. We have a broad range of evidence-based and evidence-informed skills and knowledge about treatment. As part of that, they also are members of professional societies and attend ongoing continuing professional education. Our clinicians have experience and training across a broad range of evidence-based and evidence informed treatment conceptualizations. These include outcome driven approaches as well as longer term approaches to change.
Conceptualizing our Approach. It is because of our conceptual approaches, that interventions have an empirical foundation and approach. Our clinicians use and teach our clients about mindful and purposeful life choices, to create wellness and balance. This is important for improving mood, decreasing anxiety, as well as in managing such difficult issues such as eating disorders, disordered eating problems, self-injury, self-destructive behaviors and complex trauma. As such, our approaches use present focused, cognitive-behavioral approaches (including CBT, DBT, ACT and Adlerian philosophies). Other approaches involve emphasizing developmental, biopsychosocial and important self-regulation conceptualization. We attempt to work with the treatment providers, support systems and community supports that are also necessary.
With first responders, our specialists have experience working with police, fire/EMS and telecommunicators. Understanding the culture and specific demands to these professionals is an important foundation to assure a good working relationship and help meet their needs.
Goal Focused & Purposeful Interventions.Innovation in treatment also means knowing what you are trying to create and why. It also means addressing every patterns in all areas in our life, mind, body and spirit. Committing to something in a comprehensive approach means something to you, to know your own values, to pick a goal and move towards it, is what this process is about for each person. Our job is to help you do this. Our clinicians emphasis health and wellness above all else. Stabilizing chaos and turmoil has to be the first step, which also involves establishing healthy self-care, sleep and nutrition. Establishing this as a foundation, along with healthy and age appropriate expectations of self management becomes the next focus. Creating purpose and meaning, embedded in values and self-definition, is critical to helping move towards health and wellness. We will work with your physicians and health-care providers. We have referrals for nutritional consultants, physicians, psychiatrists, and other providers to assure the best care possible is offered.
Change starts when people are willing to have a purposeful approach to how we practice thinking, responding and behaving. Helping people create innovative approaches to managing their own lives in service of something better. Doing the same thing over and over will probably yield the same answer. Your life can be different by thinking and actively being innovative and creating health and well-being as something you are working towards. Knowing, defining what you are working towards helps provides a goal, something to move towards. Stability, peace, happiness, health, fulfillment are examples of what people want for themselves.
